Seniors Program - Our Senior Program is held at the Blueberry Hill Activity Center the second Thursday of every month from 11:00am-1:00pm. Many Seniors (anyone age 55+) enjoy the monthly programs, socializing, meeting new friends and enjoying various delicious foods. Program fee: $15 (yearly) and $2 for lunch at each program.

Parks and Recreation Open Space Plan Committee Meeting - The Franklin Park Borough Parks and Recreation Open Space Plan Committee will hold regular monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm from August 2014 through March 2015, in the Municipal Building conference room, 2344 W. Ingomar Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 for the purpose of updating the Borough's Comprehensive Recreation, Park and Open Space Plan. All persons interested in this matter are invited to attend.

Parks and Recreation Open Space Plan Public Meeting
- This meeting is being held to provide residents with a summary of the information gathered through the recreation survey, and to give residents an opportunity to provide additional information concerning their recreational wants and needs for current and future recreation facilities and programs.

Deer Management Committee
- The committee will examine the health, safety and other impacts deer have on Franklin Park Borough residents.

Civil Service Commission Meeting
- The Franklin Park Borough Civil Service Commission will hold a meeting on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 6:00 p.m., prevailing local time, in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 2344 W. Ingomar Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15237 for the purpose of approving the revised Civil Service Commission Rules and Regulations.

Annual Halloween Costume Party
- The party is scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Blueberry Hill Park Activity Center. The fun will begin at 1:30pm with a variety of Halloween games for the children to play. Treat bags will be provided for all children in costume.

Fall Leaf Bag Collection - Fall Dates: Mondays Only - October 27th/November 3,10,17 and 24th. All bags must be placed at the curb. Pick-up begins at 6:00am.
The borough will only collect leaves in biodegradable paper bags. Please refrain from putting rocks, sticks, plastic bottles, etc. in the bags. These items will contaminate the mulch. The bags should contain leaves only. Please leave enough room at the to of the bag so you can either fold or roll it closed. Do not close with duct tape! Biodegradable bags are available at the municipal building at a cost $.40/each, or you may purchase them at retail stores. The leaf mulch will be available at Blueberry Park again in the spring.

HALLOWEEN/TRICK OR TREAT - Friday, October 31st (6-8pm).

Halloween Safety Tips
Wear bright and reflective costumes.

Don't go out alone.
Use a flashlight.
Stay in well lit area.
Be cautious of animals and strangers.
Stay on a sidewalk.
Look both ways before crossing the street.
Watch for cars.
Only go to houses with a porch light on.
Have your parents check your treats.

Fall Brush Chipping - Fall Collection begins Monday, November 3, 2014. All brush must be placed at the curb by 7:00am. All brush 1/2" to 4" in diameter only! It is imperative that all residents have your brush at the curb on the first Monday of the chipping season. The chipping service may take one or two weeks to get to all areas of the Borough depending on the amount of brush placed at the curb. Please cut and place your brush perpendicular to the curb with the butt end out. This service is provided for brush and tree trimmings only. No thorn bushes will be accepted. If you have a tree or trees to dispose of, you must contact a private contractor. Borough crews will not spend more than 15 minutes or chipping brush at your home.

Election Day is November 4, 2014. Exercise your right to vote! Polls are open from 7am-8pm.

Budget Hearings FY 2015 - The Franklin Park Borough Council Finance Committee will hold Budget Hearings for the FY 2015 Budget on Saturday, November 8, 2014 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 2344 W. Ingomar Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. The hearings afford department directors the opportunity to present and justify their 2015 budget requests, and Council will also discuss and consider those requests. All persons interested in said hearings are invited to attend.

Veterans Day is a holiday for municipal employees. The borough offices will be closed. However, it is not a holiday for Waste Management and service will remain normal.

Thanksgiving Day (November 27th) and November 28th the Borough Offices will be closed. They will be open again on December 1st.

Garbage Collection - Thanksgiving Day is a holiday for Waste Management. Pick-up on Thursday will be collected on Friday.
