Proposed Land Use Changes and Maps

In January 2007 Borough Council approved the revised Comprehensive Plan. The Plan set certain community and development related goals. The Plan generally increased the standards for developing land in Franklin Park. In order to achieve those goals, the Borough has worked to update its zoning, subdivision and land development ordinances.

On March 11, 2009 the Borough held a public meeting to receive citizen input regarding the proposed changes. The major changes that are proposed are as follows:

 *Enhanced M-2 Mixed-Used Interchange District

*Planned Economic Development (PED) Overlay District
 *Five Points Village Overlay District
 *Conservation Subdivision Design
 *Transition District Overlay
 *Natural Resources Overlay District
 *Landscaping and Buffering Provisions

The borough recently adopted improved standards for multi-family building design and strengthened standards in the stormwater ordinance.

The March 11, 2009 meeting is the beginning of the public involvement process. Residents are encouraged to review the information provided below and make any comments you may have in writing or by email: email@franklinparkborough.us. All responses will be forwarded to and considered by the Planning Commission. After the Planning Commission approval the recommended revisions to the Zoning, Subdivision & Land Development Ordinances will be forwarded to Borough Council. Council will then hold a public hearing to receive public input. Additionally, every resident whose property will be affected by the changes will be notified by mail, prior to the public hearing.

Both the Planning Commission and Borough Council have committed to provide our residents with every opportunity to comment on the proposed changes. Only after a full, open and public debate will Council consider adopting the proposed revisions to our ordinances.
