Northland Public Library directly serves five municipalities in the North Hills, including Bradford Woods, the Borough of Franklin Park, Marshall Township, Town of McCandless and Ross Township.  Nearly 40,000 people currently hold a library card.  Our collection includes more than 200,000 items, including books, videos, DVDs, and audio books.  Over 1,100,000 items were circulated by the library in 2008.  The library also features more than 70 computers with free Internet access available to the public, and is equipped for wireless Internet use.  

Northland Library offers programs and services for people of all ages.  Our adult programs include free income tax preparation service for senior citizens and low-income families, helpful medical seminars, book discussion groups, travel video and foreign film presentations, and more than 30 different free computer classes each month.  Children’s programs include storytimes for youngsters and teenagers, Guitar Hero featuring our Wii computers,eroH teen movie nights, puppet workshops, arts and crafts exhibits, and chess classes and tournaments.  Our Summer Reading Clubs for children, teens and adults feature programs and activities for more than 2,000 people each year, capped off by everyone’s favorite event, Hot Dog Day.

The library offers the Northland Library Tutor program, a free, online service that provides tutoring assistance to students from kindergarten through college, plus help for adults with resume writing and other job-related areas.

We also sponsor the Three Rivers Storytelling Festival each August, where some of the nation’s top storytellers gather at the library to entertain those attending with their spellbinding tales.  For more information on the Festival please visit www.3rstf.org.

 Our meeting rooms host more than one thousand library and community programs each year. The rooms are equipped with state of the art equipment, including plasma televisions, DVD and video players, desktop projectors and computers.

NORTHLAND LIBRARY TUTOR - Northland Public Library offers free, live tutoring assistance for students of all ages, from kindergarten through adult, from 3pm to 10pm daily. Simply go to the library website listed above and click on Northland Library Tutor. Students will be connected directly with an expert tutor for one-on-one help in math, science, social studies and English. Adults can receive assistance with continuing education projects, as well as resume and work related writing. Northland Library Tutor can also be accessed on any Internet-equipped computer in the library, or on the library website at home or work by anyone with a Northland Library card who is a resident of our five supporting municipalities, including Franklin Park.
