Syringe and Medical Waste Disposal - Special
care required. Millions of Americans use syringes daily to
treat medical conditions including diabetes, allergies,
infertility, and MS, as well as for veterinary care.
Two-thirds of those injections are self-administered at home
with single-use syringes.
Syringes cannot be recycled, no matter what they are
made of. Improperly disposed of needles pose a major safety
hazard to recycling plant workers. To safely dispose of
syringes, needles, lancets, and other medical sharps:
Place the used item into an empty household plastic container
or coffee can. Bleach and detergent bottles are best because
needles can't poke through. Do not use glass containers, which
can break. Tape or screw the lid shut. Write "Do Not
Recycle" on the outside.
Do not Recycle: Soiled bandages, disposable sheets,
medical gloves, adult and baby diapers as well as other
home-generated medical wastes and material contaminated with
excrement or secretions from the body. These items should be
put into securely-fastened plastic bags and placed with your
regular garbage.
Bulk Item Information - Any large or unusual
items are considered bulk items. Removal of bulk times is free
of charge for unlimited service customers. Charges for
stickers customers are $10-$15 for items such as furniture,
appliances, lawn/garden equipment, exercise equipment, and
other household items. If you are unsure if your item
constitutes as a bulk item, or if you are unsure of the
disposal cost, please contact our office. We at Fayette Waste,
in accordance with landfill regulations and going green,
strongly recommend that customers who have useable household
items, furniture, or appliances donate them to charities such
as Goodwill, St. Vincent de Paul's, The Salvation Army, or the
Red Cross. If your items, for whatever reason, cannot be given
to charity, please do not hesitate to contact our office for
pick-up. Please remember that all customers must contact
our office to request the removal of all bulk items and must
be made at least one (1) day in advance of your pick-up day.
Sticker Customers should be prepared to pay the fees assessed
for this service at the time of their request.
Move-Out Pick-Up - Any customer who has a large
quantity of household items resulting from moving out of a
residence may contact our office for our move out pick-up
service. Up to four (4) cubic-yards of items will be accepted
free of charge. Customers will be charged $6.75 per yard if
the quantity is over four (4) cubic yards.
Please verify any information on the refuse page, for the 2010
