Starting January 1, 2012 - Franklin Park Borough has
awarded the refuse contract to Waste Management of PA to
collect all residential refuse and recyclables.

Waste Management will implement a four (4) day collection
schedule. With the four day schedule some Borough residents
will experience a change in their scheduled pick up day.

Sticker customers should contact Fayette Waste
Customer Service at:
1-888-606-0362 to be reimbursed for any remaining stickers
they may still have
from the hauler.
Notice: With the new hauler you should also be aware of the
following:

Rates for 2012 will decrease slightly
-
Waste Management will collect recyclables each
week, rather than the current bi-weekly collection.

Corrugated cardboard will now be collected
curbside provided the cardboard is flattened, cut, and can be
no larger than 14x14 inches.

Leaves, brush and/or yard waste of any type
can no longer be collected at curbside according to PA DEP
regulations.
-
Grass clippings may still be placed at the
curb with your regular garbage for collection by Waste
Management.

All garbage must be placed at the curb either
the night before or by 6:00am the day of your scheduled pick
up.
Service Options - Year 2012
Curbside Unlimited Service - $14.75/month
Rear Yard Service - $21.57/month - Any large items
still need to be placed at the curb. (Current rear yard
service customers must call Waste Management to set up this
service)
Optional Senior Citizen Sticker Service (ages 65 and over)
- Seniors have the option of purchasing stickers at a cost of
$1.85, instead of participating in the unlimited service
program. Stickers are available for purchase by calling
customer service. Stickers must be placed on the top of each
bag placed at the curb for pick up. Any item placed out for
pick up that does not have the appropriate sticker attached is
subject to an additional charge. This service includes
recycling. Current stickers customers will maintain this type
of service by purchasing stickers from Waste Management.
Non-Senior Stickers Service - Sticker service is
also available to non-senior citizens who only generate a
small amount of trash at a cost of $2.46. Stickers are
available for purchase by calling customer service. Stickers
must be placed on the top of each bag placed at the curb for
pick up. Any item placed out for pick up that does not have
the appropriate sticker attached is subject to an additional
charge. This service includes recycling. Current sticker
customers will maintain this type of service by purchasing
stickers from Waste Management.
"Snowbird Claus": Customers who temporarily
leave their permanent residence during the winter months shall
be permitted to cancel service temporarily between November
1st and March 31st for a period not to exceed 5 months.
Requests for this exception must be made in writing to Waste
Management at least 30 days prior to the requested date to
stop service. Include an approximate return date in your
letter. Customers must strictly adhere to the 30 day advance
request in order to exercise this privilege.
Holiday Schedule - 2012 calendar year
New Year's Day - Sunday, January 1, 2012 - All services will
remain on schedule.
Memorial Day - Monday, May 28, 2012 - All services will be
delayed by one day.
Independence Day - Wed., July 4, 2012 - All services will be
delayed by one day.
Labor Day - Monday, September 3, 2012 - All services will be
delayed by one day.
Thanksgiving Day - Thurs. Nov. 22, 2012 - All services will be
delayed by one day.
Christmas Day - Tues., December 25, 2012 - All services will
be delayed by one day.

Single Stream Recycling - all recyclables can be placed
together in the same bin. No sorting required. The following
can be placed in your curbside recycle bin:

Aluminum food and beverage containers with food debris
removed. Labels do not need to be removed.

Glass food and beverage containers with lids and food debris
removed: clear, brown, green. Labels do not have to be
removed.

Natural and pigmented plastic containers with
symbols 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 (milk bottles, water bottles, detergent
bottles, shampoo bottles, bleach bottles, etc). Lids and food
debris removed. Labels do not have to be removed.

Ferrous (iron, steel, tin) cans with food debris removed.
-
Newsprint - black and white or pigmented. Not bound or placed
in bags.
-
Construction paper, Kraft paper, cereal boxes, shoe boxes,
phone books or similar.
-
Printer paper, computer paper, copy paper.
-
Junk Mail.
-
Magazines, catalogs.
-

List of Materials NOT ACCEPTED as Recyclables:

Wax coated paper or cardboard.

Any material with food debris (pizza boxes).

Batteries of any kind.

Styrofoam of any kind.

Light bulbs.

Mirrors, window or auto glass, porcelain, ceramics, glass
cookware/bake ware, microwave oven trays, drinking glasses,
perfume/cologne bottles.

Wood or Yard Waste, (grass clippings can be bagged and set our
with trash collection).
-
Unnumbered plastics.
-
Coat hangers, Wire.
-
Household items such as toasters, cookware, bake ware,
electronics, appliances etc.
-
Hazardous or toxic substances.
-
Items containing or having debris and residue containing
hazardous or toxic substances such as paint cans with wet
paint, motor oil containers, gasoline cans, glue, petroleum
products, etc.

Aerosol cans.
