FRANKLIN PARK TURNS 200 IN 2023

This year, the Borough of Franklin Park (formerly Franklin Township) turns 200 years old. Borough staff and volunteers are currently working on preparations for a year-long celebration of Franklin Park’s past, present and future. We are looking for residents who may be able to volunteer their time or materials for the following:

  • Help sort through the historical documents currently owned by the Borough.
  • Donate or loan historical photos, documents, or items that can be displayed.
  • Identify individuals who have been residents of the Borough for 50 years or more and would be willing to talk about how the Borough has changed over the years.

If you are able and willing to help, please contact us at FP200@franklinparkborough.us or call Donna at 412-364-4115, extension 302. Also, please sign up for our
E-Newsletter to receive monthly updates on what is being planned.

Meetup Spot

"MEETUP SPOT" FOR INTERNET PURCHASE EXCHANGES

The Franklin Park Police Department has partnered with OfferUp to create a safe Internet Purchase Exchange Location for strangers to exchange items they have purchased online. The "MeetUp Spot" program helps eliminate the need for strangers to exchange items at a home or residence. The MeetUp Spot will help deter criminal intent and activity.  The MeetUp Spot, which is located outside of the Franklin Park Police Department, is a designated, 24hr monitored area for individuals to complete a transaction.

Safety tips:

o    Let a friend or family member know about the exchange.
o    Consider having a friend go along.
o    Try to complete all transactions during daylight hours if possible.
o    Never invite strangers to your home or agree to meet at their home.
o    Do not agree to a transaction if the other party refuses to meet in the MeetUp
      spot.
o    Bring a cell phone in case of an emergency.
o    Police Department or Borough employees will not act as a witness or be part of
      these transactions.
