FRANKLIN PARK COMMUNITY GARDEN
Would you like to grow vegetables to eat or to share? Is your yard too small, too shady, or too overrun with deer for a vegetable garden? If so, consider growing in the Franklin Park Community Garden. The garden is located at 2634 Big Sewickley Creek Road, across the road from Linbrook Park. You may have noticed the garden if you drove past it last year. The garden includes ten raised beds with mulch paths between the beds. The entire garden space is enclosed with a deer-proof fence and a locked gate. The Borough will provide horse manure and compost you can use in your plot, as well as water. The garden opens in April for early crops like peas and lettuce and closes in November after the first frost. Gardeners are encouraged to grow organically and to attract pollinators and beneficial insects to their plots. To cover the borough’s costs, seasonal rental for each plot is $60. There are a few plots still available for this year. If you are interested in a community garden plot, contact Donna Platt by email at dplatt@franklinparkborough.us or by phone at 412-364-4115, Ext. 302. Gardeners must be Franklin Park Borough residents. The deadline for reserving a plot is March 22, 2024.

The brush chipping will begin on Monday, April 1st and the leaf bag collection will be the weeks of April 8th and April 15th.
